Welcome to Harristown State School!
Harristown State School is one of Toowoomba's oldest state primary schools and currently has an enrolment of around 350 students. Situated on the southern side of Toowoomba, Harristown is an established area in Toowoomba. Our school is close to many shopping centres and amenities. We are also situated near Harristown State High School. Our student population consists of many varied cultural groups. Our Indigenous student population makes up approximately 34 % and our EAL/D students, 10 %.
Harristown State School is a school which prides itself on offering the best possible educational opportunities for our students. Our school offers a number of opportunities for students to reach their full potential. These include: a commitment to ensure all students have numeracy and literacy skills that will allow them to participate in our society, highly professional teachers with a commitment to quality learning, a 2 hour uninterrupted literacy block in Years 1-4 and an Instrumental Music Program that offers students a choice of brass, woodwind, string or percussion instruments.
Harristown State School also has sporting opportunities to challenge outstanding athletes, specialist intervention programs that assist students needing support or extension with their learning and lunch time options program including two fully functioning computers labs, organised sport and library access. The school also has a positive behaviour room called the Student Support Centre (SSC) which houses the Guidance officer and Chaplain and is available to all students at lunch times for games and a place for space and retreat.
